Once done, click the Custom Fields button. Going back to the workaround, you'll want to generate your item serial or identification number automatically then add it to QuickBooks. We're unable to automatically assign a numbering sequence (like how transaction numbers work).
However in both versions, you'll still have to manually assign these numbers (since there are a variety of item serial numbers). You can also use the Manufacturer's Part Number on the item's settings if possible. You can assign a custom field to add the internal inventory identification number.
